STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Marilyn DeSeta, 78, of Grasmere, a retired law firm receptionist who was dedicated to her family and adored her grandchildren, died Saturday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.

Born and raised Marilyn Cappa in Manhattan's Little Italy, she went to high school in her native borough.

Mrs. DeSeta lived in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, for over 40 years, until moving to Grasmere 22 years ago.

Also a homemaker, she worked as a receptionist for the law firm of Spicer Kraus Nolan for over 10 years, retiring...

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Marilyn DeSeta, 78, of Grasmere, a retired law firm receptionist who was dedicated to her family and adored her grandchildren, died Saturday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze.

Born and raised Marilyn Cappa in Manhattan's Little Italy, she went to high school in her native borough.

Mrs. DeSeta lived in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, for over 40 years, until moving to Grasmere 22 years ago.

Also a homemaker, she worked as a receptionist for the law firm of Spicer Kraus Nolan for over 10 years, retiring in the late 1990s.

Mrs. DeSeta was outgoing, friendly and direct, family said.

She loved to read and enjoyed music, with Johnny Mathis her favorite singer. She enjoyed shopping for clothes, had a great sense of style, and was always beautifully dressed.

Mrs. DeSeta cherished her family, and loved being with her grandchildren.

She was a parishioner of St. Ann's R.C. Church, Dongan Hills.

Surviving are her husband of 21 years, Frank; her son, Thomas Chiarello; her daughters, Barbara Amos and Janet DeAngelis, and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Church. Burial will follow in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn.
